Default Another Redesign

Been working on redesigning on another site I run. Let me know what you think:

Homepage - Forest Advertising - FREE Business Directory and Tourism Guide - Forest of Dean

Really just doesn't cut it for me unfortunately, I agree the colorscheme should be greenish keeping it eco etc but just really don't like the site (sorry)

Its all a bit large, h2 for a heading is way to big. It feels like a template, I like the header image, though do not feel it says tourism, a couple of ramblers in the background, maybe a village shop (for local people! ref: The League of Gentlemen) again the main picture on the landing page is the same, tells me nothing, there should be not puzzle to what the site is for, within seconds my eyes need to tell me I am in the right place, maybe 4 smaller pics, with a shop, a B&B, hiking shop etc.

I can imagine that a client would be OK with it, but as a designer you shouldn't be, hope this helps and keep us updated.

Got a couple more minutes (will review properly later) but in the meantime I would have the following 3 key thoughts.

1) The menu is useful being in a dropdown but its not clean or formatted nicely within the menu at-all, I would recommend switching this to a "cleaner" menu style.

2) For fonts are too big, try alternating fonts and definitely smaller to get the message across.

3) Mix it up, try dropping in some more imagry as Kipfix said, the message needs to drive home within seconds.

Default Yes more images

But not just any images, i have a great photographers website that does image editing ... its great ... cant remember the exact page but if you go to Industrial photographers Scotland it comes up with a super first page, you would need to send some money though coz im very busy but it will be worth it in the long run.

I suggest offering 50 pounds to fix you pictures and that should do it.

Look for the link to image editing in the canvas pages.

Failing that use Stock Photography: Search Royalty Free Images & Photos you can top it up from about a tenner and get pics on there already edited for about a pound each.

Great resource for business folk!
