My experience with BL is that their website is good, but their service/advice is bad.

I did a little experiment earlier today with business link.
I went on to Business Link Yorkshire. Great site looks very organised.
I sent them an email.
But bearing in mind my area comes under Lancashire, Even though I live in Manchester my local office is Preston.
Under 5 minutes later I had a reply.
The said in their email that I had sent it to the wrong bl office and would I like them to forward it for me.
I thanked them for their quick reply and said that would be great, as our bl never replies.
Am just waiting for contact.

I actually quite like BL. I meet with our local rep when I first started and found him really helpful and full of useful advice. Granted I didn't take any of the courses, but his tips on cashflow and stock control formed the bases for my "back office" proceedure which has been really successful.

From the other posts on this topic it seems like its pot luck with regards to how well they serve you, but just thought I would try and balance the experinces a wee bit :-)

It has been brought to attention that business link it seems cannot help businesses before they actually start trading. I searched their site and found the MD name so I sent a rather nice email to him explaining the situation. This has now been rectified and as from monday it will be full steam ahead.

Hooray success. Finally have got somewhere with bl.
Apparently they don't really deal much with business start ups.
You have to be trading before help is offered.
The fact of the matter is I have been trading for over 5 months.
So after a rather nice letter to the MD.
They are now pulling out all the stops

BL is like any other company, it depends who you speak to, their mood at that moment in time & how much they want the job.

If you get in touch 1 day, you may get someone who is annoyed over their pay & wants to get fired so they can go on benefits - so you get bad service.
Get in touch 5minutes later, you may get someone who has just been told there inline for a promotion/payrise so they go to the ends of the earth to ensure your happy - so you get great service.

Doesnt matter what the company is its always the same, at my local shop if i go in and its the elderly staff (or the very young) there always very friendly and nice, whereas the middle-aged woman whos just had a baby is always extremely cranky & makes me want to leave the moment i see her behind the counter.
