Martin, I personally am inclined to agree with Luke here.

You can get a decent website done for far less than that. Spending money out of future retained profits to upgrade it is fine, but I think expecting lending you lots of money would expect you to be a bit more frugal with it.

I guess you will need a first class website to make the punters happy and splash more cash on a luxury holiday. Do you have a version of the site available or a demo site we could take a look at?

Have to confess I had misread that too. So how much more are you after from an investor and what equity are you offering them?

well ive done my research on the website and i got a package for .com.au .co.uk both websites need to have currency converters and about 30 pages also cms system made for a travel agent and have a program called Amadeus run on the system! do you know any other web designers willing to do that for less that £5k? and do a good job and have a profile of doing travel website?

Its always best to go with people who know what they are doing instead of spending £1k doing a website the wont live up to the company's name!

Its all good anyway that was the cheapest offer i had and the others where ranging from 6-10k

Depends really on what the investor has to offer. I'm looking to give a 20-30% stake away but not able to discuss and figures until i have an interested investor! There has been alot of interest in my idea had about 5 emails and been on a few calls with interested guys! All of them seem to agree about the website though. Considering say thecruisestore paid an alleged £100k for their website haha.

I thought we had moved on from that? But as you are asking, I think it sounds dang expensive too. But if you are happy with it, that is the main thing

Slightly lost me there, ....are you saying you can't give a ball park figure of how much investment you are looking for for 20-30%?

Are you talking about the French IT company? The system they use for travel?
If so, I can see why the costs are high, they bought their software from the company I work at in my day job

no sorry. What i mean is i am not open to discuss that with people who aren't interested in the business. Once ive had the time to discuss the plan and business to investors then i would happily talk about what i am looking for investment wise!

sorry if that came across wrong!
