Need a moderately basic computer tower without too many bells and whistles to carry out limited tasks.

Require minimum 2gb Ram, needs to be able to access internet and have Win XP. It does not need sound, monitor, keyboard or anything flash in the form of a graphics card.

I just bought one of these dabs.com - HP dx2400 Celeron-440 1GB 160GB Vista Home Basic (KV354ET#ABU)

It's got 1gb of ram but you can choose the bundle with a free 1gb upgrade for no extra cost. It comes with Vista though.

Really? What was that? I've been using Dabs for over 10 years, bought two computers plus printer and many peripherals from them with not a single problem and simple returns and refund procedure for a couple of items I decided I didn't need. And always very fast delivery.

(And no, I have no affiliation with them, just a very happy customer!)
