Default Total Web Development to launch Cloud Hosting Technology

Cloud Hosting will be a revalation in todays over saturated hosting market.

Traditional web hosting means that your website is placed on a single webserver and when that server starts to struggle for space and / or resources your website becomes sluggish and prone to downtime.

Cloud Hosting is about to change all that - forever.

How does Cloud Hosting work?

Imagine if you can - a datacenter filled with 1000's of web servers, all linked together and load balanced so that they are effectively acting as one - this is "the cloud".
Clients websites will be activated on "the cloud" where they are free from the restrictions of current hosting environments - current testing has proved that a cloud hosted website can go from zero visitors to 100,000 visitors online within a few minutes with no crashes or loss of performance - as "the cloud" allocates extra resources to the site.

Redundancy - In traditional hosting, if a component of the web server fails (such as memory or hard drive) the server fails and all websites go offline until the faulty component can be replaced, with cloud hosting "the cloud" continues as normal with no loss of connectivity or performance.

Choice of Window or Linux - We will be running both Windows and Linux hosting solutions, if you run multiple websites you can mix 'n match which sites use which technology with no difference in price.

Run Windows and Linux scripts on the same website at the same time - in a first (I believe) for UK hosting you can now run windows (.asp etc) and Linux (PHP etc) scripts in the same folder on the same website at the same time!

Scalable - As your website / business grows, the cloud grows with you - if you suddenly see a spike in traffic to your website or Blog you can rest assured that it will not suffer any downtime or loss of performance.

Cost has still to be confirmed but will not be significantly higher than current shared hosting prices.

For more details look here http://www.totalwebdevelopment.co.uk/cloud-hosting.html

We we also be looking for some BETA testers in the near future - watch this space for FREE hosting on "the cloud"

Sounds like an interesting idea, but make sure you know what you are talking about. PHP is not Linux, PHP is a scripting language which runs on Linux and Windows, so having asp and PHP running on the same server is nothing new, many Windows hosts offer that.

I do know what I am talking about - I have been in this game for years... I just simplified it... If you want the "full spiel" then:

it's not just that both files work. It's that both files work natively and automatically. Sure, it's possible for Linux and Windows servers to sort of act like each other through clunky and unreliable emulation, but we have strong feelings about that: it's a hack and it's cheating. The fact is, any technology always works best in its native environment. And providing multiple, native environments is one area where the enterprise cluster powering The Cloud really shines. No matter what technologies you use to build your site--ASP.net, PHP, Perl, Python, FrontPage, or a combination of all of them--rest assured that your site will have impressive, reliable, and native performance.
That YOU CANNOT DO with traditional hosting - shared, VPS or dedicated...

No not quite yet - there has been a small set back, nothing too major and it will get ironed out very soon but I don't want to make the mistake of rushing it...

Just a quick update...

The new cloud hosting service is now available - I am currently adding website's to the new infrastructure and transfering current enterprise clients as they require zero downtime.

Pricing and further details are here: RapidCloud - 100% uptime cloud hosting provider

Further to the original post...

LIVE DC Support: You can now contact datacenter technicians live from your cloud hosting control panel, these technicians will answer any live support request within seconds (24x7) and are there for any technical support you require whilst using the cloud.

SECURE Email: Email is now available over SSL, download your emails using secure SSL technology at no extra cost.

NEW Control Panel: Now in advanced BETA testing stage we will be rolling this out in a few weeks - the new control panel will feature amongst other things a file manager that will not only let you browse your web files but also roll back files from 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 5 hours previously.

The pricing is NOT set in stone - in fact I think the pricing may well increase slightly in the next few weeks as I think it is priced to cheaply for the enterprise / corp market.

Hi there, Just a quick question, how do you grantee that you have a 100%uptime? Surely at some point your server is going to go offline where your hosting all the sites, or you'll need to pull the plug while your doing updates work?

Sorry if that sounds a bit negative, just wary of things that say 100%

Dave

It's a good question - the simple answer is that the website's are NOT hosted on a single server, they are hosted on multiple servers at the same time using complex load balancers... If a server goes offline the others automatically take up the slack until the server is repaired.
