Default Thoughts on adwords.

Re chubs question I thought this might help generally
new adwords people.

Some basic stuff

(1) Target [EXACT], "PHRASE" and BROAD separately
theres a high likelihood you may be losing money on broad unless you test.

(2) Target ads and landing pages to specific keywords The same ad and landing page wil not do for all keywords For that reason,
sp for most begnners, targetting too many keyword is wrong

(3) Write compelling ads that give a reason to click thru

(4) Write specific landing pages targetting the mindset of the keywords.. eg , dont direct "rabbit food" at a page dealing with general pet needs, - go straight to rabbit food
Work both sides of the click.

(5) Have a specific call to action, and directing the landing page to that.

(6) Put things that google look for for quality.
DId you know a privacy policy is vital if you ask for sign up, and if you dont have one google give you lower quality and higher price?

(7) Use the real gem of Adwords properly - placement targetting.

(8) Test enough ads, and optimise the campaign before google start pushing prices up

(9) Strike bad keywords and ads before they pull your CTR down

(10) Dont Always going for a sale, where in some cases a sign up is better
offer a free secrets guide...

egA guide "yes you can"! - how to make dog food from ordinary ingredients
some mistakes, and keys to success....Ask for an email!!

(11) Thinking h about your customer to find the backdoor keywords which identify your customer before they buy...not when they are buying. eg "home decorating" identifies many people about to sell their homes." "wall street journal" identifies potential investors maybe "maternity labour" identifies a mum to be long before they buy kids clothing. Bidding on the title of a popular book that only your kind of customer would read.-
Your case...think about what people want whilst deciding on whether to get a pet.

(12) Get them early, give them good information then pitch And these can be VERY VERY cheap clicks! and you have them for life. If you wait for them to type "cheap baby clothes"...you can be too late.

(13) Separate the handful money keywords into separate campaign and treating them with kid gloves! to ensure experiments never ruin CTR
Google measuer CTR at many levels

(14) Test everything. Not all keywords convert the same.
No point in high CTR with low conversion

And then there is the advance stuff......
WIll keep most of that to myself. here is one...

(1) If you use googles new keyword tools - ask for extra keywords..
They will tell you LSI related words.....

Thats "latent semantic indexing" - googles way of recognising good content on a subject when specific keywords are not present.

Incorporate those in your page to get higher quality.

Good luck

Bits of advice

(a) Focus on just one expression whilst learning - phrase and exact match.
Concentrate all your efforts there.

(b) Pick a buying phrase. "Online pet store" is a browser. "Whiskas cat treats"
is more of a buyer better still "cheap 500g whiskas dry mixer" is almost certainly looking to buy.
Although even seasoned adwords pros, dont always predict which peopel buy.

TESTING IS EVERYTHING...THE CUSTOMERS TELL YOU WHICH AD AND KEYWORDS ARE RIGHT!!!

(c) Look at the advertisers for your words over a period. See whose adverts are changing. THey are the serious players - they are testing. Look at the adverts. Think of the benefits you can offer a buyer. Get them in the headline - curiosity can help sometimes "Dont make this mistake buying cat mixer " will get buyers to look and a downloadbale guide can get a sign up.
.but CTR isnt everything. Conversion mattes most. Be careful of ad and landing page quality.

(d) Dont just give a price and product. Give compelling reasons to buy from you eg 110& guarantee and also ask for the order. Give an option to sign up for something. Make sure they know who you are. An address . phone number. testimonials.privacy policy all help make you seem real

(e)Show adverts more evenly option RAPIDLY change adverts to icnrease CTR - google dont give you long to improve, and can slap you in a matter of only 24 hours if you arent getting clicks.

Go for it.
