Default Recession News -

Britain's recession worse than feared as the economy shrinks at its fastest rate in 50 years
By Sam Fleming

Britain is being battered by its worst recession since the Second World War, shocking government figures showed today.
Gross domestic product (GDP) tumbled 2.4 per cent in the first three months of the year, the steepest plunge for 51 years, the Office for National Statistics said.
The decline was far worse than previously estimated. In April Chancellor Alistair Darling said he expected a decline of around 1.6 per cent.
The recession-hit UK economy shrank at its fastest rate for more than 50 years as bankers warn of a relapse in growth
The torrid figure means the economy has now shrunk 4.9 per cent since the beginning of the recession - the deepest downturn since the War.
And the country is now on course to suffer a slump of at least 4 per cent in 2009, worse than Chancellor Alistair Darling’s Budget forecasts for a decline of 3.25 per cent to 3.75 per cent.

All made worse, by the Chancellor basing his figures on over optimistic forecasts.

Anyone think we are going to get out of this recession ?

Or do you think the Uk is doomed to a future of More speed cameras higher taxes more yellow lines more stealth taxes, higher fags and booze taxation , higher VAT , Massive Council Tax rises ,etc etc.

Or maybe you think that Massive Industry is going to be started in the UK and the UK is once again going to rule the world ?

Yea i know , but you never know someone may think that

Even based on the more optimistic figures, there never seemed to be enough time to repay the debt before we would be theoretically due another recession... there seems to be a burying of heads about how we will finance the next one.
