
British exports to the rest of the world have outstripped sales to Europe for the first time, official figures showed yesterday.
Exports of goods to non-European Union countries jumped 7.6 per cent to ?12.6billion in February but sales to the EU dropped 4.4 per cent to ?12.5billion, according to the Office for National Statistics.
It came as the debt crisis sweeping the continent hit demand and forced Britain to look beyond its European neighbours to other markets such as the US and China.
