Default Why does every one want a wordpress styled website?

Why is that every time i look at a new website design, I see a wordpress styled site. I have been tempted by the wordpress style my self a few times but resisted!!

Everyone seems to think when designing a website that they must have a design that is so web 2.0 that it is freeeekkyy.

I would much rather make a site that i like. I know that people are trying to impress people with there USP but come on, a website designer makes websites. A plumber picks plumbs .. oops .. you know what i meen here.

I try to impress my cleints with my design skill s but at the same time, and im sure this is the same with every other person who designs web sites for a living, i look at what the other guy is doing before i start to design a new site.

What is the trend? is there a trend or are all website designers just total sheep following some sales copy, Web 2.0, CSS XHTML design that some guy has just made on some CSS gallery site?

Ive made some real **** hot websites over the years and i must say i do rate my own work. The thing is that i am never really happy with what i have and i always want to make my site better. Doing this makes me procrastinate which may be a bad thing.

When will I, a professional website designer, and SEO expert, realise that it is time to stick with what you have right now and stop trying to upstage a dude on-line in some foreign country, on some ****hot website that you will never meet?

I have to admit there are certain trends I do "follow", I get a tonne of web blog feeds to my desktop that I'm always flicking through to get some inspiration. I myself prefer coding my things from scratch, I tend to just whip out a notepad (a real one) do a pen sketch of a rough layout, whip open notepad (the pc one) and do it in xhtml/css. From that point on anything that happens is just whatever strikes me & fits. I basically design a framework then build into it (making adjustments if required).

I have noticed millions of sites starting to look the same, not just layout but function. I'm ever evolving my ideas & expanding my "pet projects" to include modern functionality but also some very new things that I have never seen done. Hopefully they'll get to see the light of day at some point.

I asked the same question ages ago.

Here are my thoughts:
1. It is free
2. Anyone can set-up
3. Templates freely available
4. They are SE friendly
5. They have RSS feeds you can plug in to other systems
6. For small sites they are fair CMS systems
7. You just need some standard hosting
8. Plug-ins available - but take a bit of experience to get config right

Why re-invent the wheel?

The front end is fully customisable to a PHP Programmer. Althought you need a pretty smart design team to create something special and unique.

If anyone comes across a good Word Press Theme programmer/designer please send them my way.

Great...

Can you post a direct link to a theme design + implementation from scratch?
Also good if you can do the widgets part.

I've been writing classes in PHP for about 5yrs - but I don't fancy learning about WP for the sake of it. Would be good to have someone on-side who is trained and experienced.

Show me the links.

Very interested - not found anyone who is much cop so far.
Although, there are plenty of template peeps doing a bad job.

I'm afraid I don't have any links haven't been using Wordpress for a while, I prefer Drupal as a CMS. If you take a look through my feedback though (link in signature) theres plenty of projects on there they may display a url.
