You should be able to do it in Photoshop. If you have multi-page PDFs, with the full version of Adobe Acrobat you should be able to save each page in various formats.

On Linux, you can convert a PDF really easy with the following command:

Quote:
convert foo.pdf foo.png
Time to dump Windows me thinks

Depends what their situation is. I always recommend that people switch to Linux - I think the new distributions like Ubunut and LinuxMint are much more noob friendly.

For example, the parents were getting viruses. Installing virus scanner etc. is no good - at some point some virus is going to get on the system. So I moved them to Linux and now they cannot mistakenly install any adware garbage, no viruses. I've not had to do anything except install MS Office in Wine.

I was round at a friend's a few nights ago. I have re-installed Windows on his computer 3-4 times, setup anti-virus etc. No good. The computer always descends into virus-adware hell.

These types of people just can't be trusted on Windows. They need to move over to nooby Linux distros

Re. making money. Linux enterprise does make money via support rather than software.

I have recently been having a foray into open source. I am really seeing the benefits - having people critique and find bugs in my code.

good answer.

and an intelligent one at that. you are the type of person I can trust to support people properly rather than a lot of people who just promote Linux because its free.

my opinion is if there were more of you then Linux would do much better, unfortunately we are seeing there isnt.

To answer the original question, Photoshop makes a good job of it - you can choose which page to convert, the resolution, and whether it should be RGB, CYMK or grayscale. You can then save to whatever format you want.

If you've got a lot to convert that might not be the best way, there might be a better way to convert batches.

If you need to use something like erm.... well ... I don't know, a program that only works in Windows ... MS Acess for Vista - I am sure there are plenty of others too, maybe it would be better to use Windows. Most of the major apps actually work quite well in Linux though with Wine- things like MS Word, Photoshop CS2 and so on. Even a lot of games work in Linux - I played about 7 seasons in Football Manager in Linux.

However when I get asked to fix people's computers, my first call is to CTRL+ALT+DEL where I see 60+ processes running, usually baddies. Most people just can't look after their computers. I am sure some people would make a hash of Linux too. My only conversion so far are the parents, so I can't really attest.

Naturally as a Linux user, I don't like MS. When I was buying a dedicated server, I had the option to add on loads of MS stuff. I was shocked by the pricing. Stuff like $1,000 month for the privilege of using MSSQL. I can't see who could afford that. I also used to own a company which I had no say in operations, which was paying a lot of money each money because of MS products when the company was actually a LAMP based company.

However, I am not really a Microsoft basher. I just get on with things. I just wish they would stop bringing out web browsers because they are the bane of all web developer's lives.

You can on Linux. I'd imagine so on Windows as well. You could also use a screen capture program like FastStone.
