Default EKM powershops

I seem to recall a thread here with differing remarks. what are the pros and cons of using these please. I started a thread asking for free e commerce but might start looking at paid applications etc.

I reiterate my previous warnings:

Quote:
Now you may put your love and sweat into creating your EKM store, devote hours of your life or pay people to work on it for you, but be warned...

EKM may block access to your site without warning (as they did to many of their customers this weekend without consultation)

EKM may have some very unprofessional customer service reps.

EKM may delete your site at the whim of their boss Antony Chesworth.

EKM may be running some very un-PCI correct systems.
Go that route at your peril! There are plenty of other companies offering similar, more professional offerings for less, where you won't be throwing your time and money down the drain.

I would not wish EKM upon even my worst enemy.

My partner uses them and, whilst her experiences have been OK to date so I can't criticise them as such, I personally wouldn't use them myself just for the lack of freedom their cart offers.

Add to that the cost per month and we would ideally move to an open source cart tomorrow where I could do so much more and add some additional functionality she wants but due to search engine rankings etc its just not worth doing as she would lose so much traffic which she has worked hard to build up.

If you give me a buzz with your requirements I'll let you know what systems would be best suited (both paid & free).

Sorry to explain a bit about why I could help, I've worked with 90% of E-Commerce packages over the past decade. Supporting tangible & non-tangible products, Live editing products (changing colors, text etc) almost any type of cart you could want. Each come with there own pros & cons so its all about matching them to your needs, oscommerce could be perfect for 1 person but not for another, magento is perfect for some but not others etc.
