Cross promotion also works well, other people that bought these also bought.......
similar items etc.

Also, take a look at your cart and drop outs etc. No harm checking that these are working in your best interests. Read a wonderful story last week about how a company changed a button on their website from saying "register" to "continue" and how it added $300million to their sales! But nothing worse than having a buying customer and losing them in the cart process.

You can do so much guerilla marketing.
Think SEO
Definitely look at backward links. See a company/website called linkeyes.
They have a free software which searches for like-based websites in the sme industry as you, that offer either free or paid links to your website. That will help with your SEO.
Also, lkike the others said, Newsletters. make a call to action.
Remember good old AIDA (Attention Interest Desire Action)
In you newsletters, make it would like they need to ACT NOW or MISS OUT! Make a promotion with an offer, that says either "Whilst stocks last", or "to the first 100 customers" or "Only until (date)"
If you let someone read something they will think... "oh that's cool, I'll have a look at it later" But they will probably forget.
Have a think about it.

Also, you should be putting your web address in your profile and signature on every forum you use.
I'm a pet lover, have 4 pets myself, I'm guessing your business might be about pets (given your profile pic and tagline) yet I don't know your website.
(that being said, I can't get my signature to work on this forum yet either - not sure if it's because I'm so new)

I am not so sure I want my web site promoted next some of the drivel I post on here

Personally for me and rightly or wrongly I do not think a link in my signature on a business forum will do me much good. Ok, i may catch a couple of customers who may be members but bigger picture I am not so sure.

But just for you....we are a pet shop that comes 2 u

Wherever a customer comes from does it really matter? Any link anywhere can only help?

On the flipside am concerned that if I suddenly remove my signature, my backlinks will disappear and my ranking will plummet! Decisions decisions!
