Default Affiliate Programmes

Hi all,

can anyone share their thoughts on affiliate programmes?. Would there be any point in adding a couple to our web site say Screw Fix and Rymans. I have no experience of this area so any advice or thoughts would be fantastic.

Cheers

Steve

I personally feel they detract from a site (especially lesser known sites) and give the impression that the website as a whole is "not a real business" but a commission collector for lead generation.

Key to remember is that you put the same effort in promoting a programme that will pay you a once off payment and one that will pay you continuously. It is again always better to join about 5 of the affiliate programmes as you diversify your income streams. It is not advisable to stick only to one affiliate programme. At the same time you do not need to join hundreds of them.

Ive been doing a bit of affiliate marketing recently on some of my retail shop sites and blogs.

You dont make a fortune, but if the site is related to the affiliate your promoting, its can be worth while.

The best thing to do is just try it out and see what works. If you dont make any money after a few months you can always take the banners down again.
