The basic kit

As an absolute minimum I recommend buying a grinder - before you buy any other piece of kit.

A good grinder will allow you to grind roasted wholebean coffee for a number of brewing methods, from Aeropress to Filter to a full on espresso machine.

[B]Burr vs Blade[/B]
Forget the latter and buy a decent burr grinder.
Burr grinders crush the beans to an even grind size, whereas blade grinders smash the beans, causing a very uneven grind, with some particles...

The flick of the switch...

This is 'the' most important part of the day (after waking up...). Flicking the switch to trigger the boiler of my Gaggia Classic to kick into action and start heating the water in readiness for my morning Ristretto.
